Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art, developed in the 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba, O' Sensei (1883- 1969).  O’ Sensei, after mastering many other martial arts, synthesized their common threads to create Aikido, a “way of harmony.”

Aikido’s aim is not the destruction of an “opponent”, but rather true reconciliation, resolution of conflict, and the development of a peaceful world through the development of peaceful people.

“Aikido” is made of 3 characters: “Ai”-harmony, love  “ki”-energy, life force   “do”-the way or path. Aikido has been tranlsated as “the way of harmonizing energy”, “the Art of Peace” & “the Way of Aiki.”

Aiki is not a technique to fight with

or defeat an enemy.

It is the way to harmonize the world

and make humanity one family
